This is Donna, Attorney Advisor at BPA (Bonneville Power Administration) where she works on policy, procurement and ethics. In the past year she was promoted to Senior Attorney within her office, and just three weeks ago she received the very first annual award for winning a legal battle, presented by the District Attorney’s Office in Oregon. The new award is entitled the Law Enforcement to Agency Partner (LEAP) award.
Previously she was in employment law, and her team created an ethics training which also received an award for its excellence. Donna tells me it’s “no big deal” and I tell her I can’t think of a time I’ve received an award in my career – maybe in my life!
In addition to having a career, she’s a life-partner to another lawyer (actually he’s a judge), a mom of two beautiful boys, and a very generous soul.
We met at an unemployment office, me—filing for unemployment in my 20’s, and she—looking at me from behind the window like I was in serious trouble. Thankfullly I was wearing my LC sweatshirt – we became fast friends because she had just been accepted into the law program there. In addition to her JD in Law from LC, she has a BS in Sociology.
Over the years whenever I talk to Donna, we pick up where we left off. She’s kind, humble (she didn’t think she had much to tell me for this tribute) and although I haven’t worked with Donna, she tells me she values honesty, directness, collaboration, integrity and she clearly fights for what’s right.
